Essential Oils for Bunions, Canker Sores and Other Annoyances

Let’s face it – our bodies can produce some pretty annoying little growths at times. Canker sores, bunions, pimples and warts are just a few of the things we all wish we could rid ourselves of once and for all.

As long as we are alive, we are going to experience things we would rather not, but at least there is hope. There are natural remedies and products that actually work that can at least speed healing if not banish most blemishes once and for all.

Care to take a look?

Bunions

Believe it or not, these painful growths on our feet can actually be treated with a home remedy many swear by.

For reducing painful inflammation bunions cause, make a rub of 2.5 ml of any carrier oil, 3 drops rosemary and 3 drops peppermint. Massage the rub into the bunion for almost instant pain relief.

After you have the pain under control, how about looking at a solution said to dissolve them altogether?

With about 5 ml of any carrier oil, mix 3 drops each wintergreen, lemongrass, and eucalyptus. Massage into bunions for a few minutes every day until they dissolve.

From what we’ve studied, this seems to be a completely viable treatment option, but you will have to be patient and consistent to see results. The bunions should begin to dissolve within a few months. If that seems too long to wait, remember how long you have had to suffer with the pain!

Canker Sores

Canker sores are caused by a virus and spread easily. It’s best to nip these little buggers in the bud before they become oozing, disgusting messes. Make a lip balm with 5-10 ml petroleum jelly and 3 drops each tea tree, frankincense and peppermint essential oils. Keep lips moistened as much as possible with the balm until the sore heals.

Pimples

Even if you’re past the age of adolescent acne, you probably still get the occasional breakout or blemish. The good news is that there are a few essential oils proven to fight the bacteria caused by acne, both drying it up and preventing future breakouts.

As soon as a blemish emerges, treat it with a drop of tea tree oil. This anti-bacterial oil will both speed healing and prevent it from growing larger.

For an everyday treatment and prevention, mix 10 drops tea tree and 5 drops lemon in a container of witch hazel. Use as an astringent every day after washing your face. Follow up with a homemade concoction of 50 ml whipped coconut oil mixed with 20 drops frankincense, 20 drops tea tree and 5 drops lemon oil.

Warts

Most people think the only way to get rid of warts is to burn them off, but they’re actually a virus, so they are treatable by other means. This one also requires some patience as it may take a few weeks to get results. But if you have a stubborn wart, it’s worth it to keep treating the problem.

Make a concoction of 5 ml apple cider vinegar, 5 drops lemongrass and 5 drops tea tree essential oils. Soak a cotton ball in it and use a bandage to secure it over the wart overnight. Do this every night or as long as you can during the day. Eventually, the wart will fall off.

Varicose Veins

Are varicose veins getting “under your skin?” They are ugly and painful and we wish they would just go away already!

Varicose veins are essentially caused by poor circulation in certain veins in the legs. They can pop out after working on your feet for many years, or they can simply be a hereditary nuisance. Either way, if you catch them in their early stages, you can work on some prevention to keep them from growing and becoming much worse.

Several oils work great for this including cinnamon, peppermint, rosemary and clary sage. The reason these oils are great for varicose veins is because they improve circulation and reduce inflammation to help lessen the appearance and pain of these annoying blemishes.

In Conclusion

Many prescription medications don’t hold a candle to the natural benefits found in essential oils for healing these types of imperfections that pop up unexpectedly. And even if they do, they are often very costly and cause many ill effects and allergies. We never suggest giving up traditional medical treatment altogether, but if there is a better and more natural way to fight ailments, why not give them a try?
