Summer Essential Oil Crafts for Teens

Keeping up with your teenagers is no easy task, especially during the summer months when the weather is warm and the free time is plentiful. And finding things you can do with them to get in some quality time is even more difficult!

But how much fun would they have making their own beauty products with natural ingredients you can feel good about?

We’ve put together our favourite craft ideas here, specifically with teens and pre-teens in mind. What teenage girl doesn’t love fun bath and beauty products?!

Bath Bombs

  • 120 ml Epsom salts
  • 240 ml baking soda
  • 120 ml citric acid
  • 5 ml water
  • 20-30 drops essential oil
  • 15 ml oil (olive oil)
  • food colouring (optional)
  • bath bomb mould

  1. Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl with a whisk or fork until well blended.
  2. In a separate container, mix water, olive oil, food colouring and essential oil(s) of your choice.
  3. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, a little at a time.
  4. Once the ingredients are all mixed, press the mixture into your moulds.
  5. Remove carefully from moulds and let dry at least 24 hours.

You can purchase moulds online specifically for bath bomb balls, or you can use a variety of other types of moulds for fun shapes. Ice trays, candy moulds, and gelatin moulds come in fun shapes and work perfectly for this craft.

Try one of the following blends of oils in your recipe, or mix it up with some of your own.

Bedtime Bath Bomb

  • 20 drops lavender
  • 10 drops Ylang Ylang

Energising Citrus Bath Bomb

  • 10 drops orange

  2. Let mixture cool about 10 seconds.
  3. Add vitamin E oil and 20 or more drops of the essential oil(s) of your choice.
  4. Fill lip balm jars completely (mixture will shrink slightly as it cools).
  5. Let set at room temperature or pop it into the refrigerator.
